Tycho Brahe (1546 – 1601) |

Brahe proposed a model of the Solar System that was somewhere between the Ptolemy's and Copernicus' models, but would later be proved incorrect. Brahe's model of the Solar System was able to explain all the observations of planetary motion at the time.

Brahe proposed a model that explained the phases of Venus, shown on the right, without making it necessary for Earth to be moving. His model had all the planets, except Earth, orbiting around the Sun, but then the Sun orbited around the Earth, as shown above. This model corresponded very closely to what was observed at the time.
1) Explain how Brahe's model contained both Ptolemic and Copernican ideas?
2) How does the Brahe model promote the heliocentric theory?
